Early departure from Quito to the northwest, passing the western Andes, following the Calacalí – La Independencia Street, entering the cloud forest. We follow the street deeper into the cloud forest, finally arriving in the region of Mindo.

On the way we make stops to enjoy the landscapes and wildlife. This region is especially interesting because of its birdlife and its exotic plants.

Additionally you can chose between different activities: A visit to the waterfalls, watching Kolibris, Canopy or a whitewater tour. Arrival back in Quito in the afternoon.

Day 1:   

08:00  Departure from the hotel in Quito, heading to Calacalí, where we take a street which will lead us to Nanegalito, passing the valley of the Nambillo river in the cloud forest.

This route gives us the possibility of including several stops to appreciate the great variety of orchids, as well as bromeliads.

Nanegalito is known for its sugar cane liquor (75%) and its pork specialties.

Subsequently we continue our journey to Mindo, the so called colorful birding paradise in the cloud forest.

2-hour walk in the cloud forest, where we might find Bergtukane, Bergtangare, Kolibris and Oropendolas.

Later we visit a small orchid garden and a butterfly farm. Lunch.

Departure to Quito at about 03:00 pm.

Arrival at about 06:00 pm.
