San Marcos Lake is situated in the ecological Reserve Cayambe-Coca, on the north-eastern side of the Cayambe.

Starting from Quito, we will travel to one side of the lake, where we go to a viewpoint on 3.670 m.

With the bike we go through small towns, where we can see the typical haciendas in the Andes and admire the farm work of the locals. Following, we reach the city of Cayambe. If the weather is good, we will have an impressing view over the Cayambe volcano on the way.

Day 1:   

07:00 Departure from Quito (2 ½ hour drive) following the Panamericana Highway to the northeast.

09:30 Arrival at the San Marcos lake.

Hike along a short path at the lake, to see the typical flora and fauna of this place.

11:00 Begin of the biking tour starting at the viewing point of the lake.

Frequent stops to eat and drink and to enjoy the many attractions on the way.

15:00 End of the biking tour.

15:30 Lunch in Cayambe.

16:30 Begin of the return trip to Quito.

18:30 Expected arrival in Quito.
